Students in Free Enterprise

K-State Home College of Business Administration SIFE Headquarters

Students In Free Enterprise, (SIFE) is a nonprofit organization aimed toward the development of entrepreneurial skills. SIFE provides an opportunity for students to become involved within their community by participating in educational projects that build teamwork, dedication and communication, management and leadership skills, qualities all employers are wanting in a employee. Participation in community outreach projects creates a bond between your school and the community. SIFE is a wide reaching program that has been adopted by more than 900 colleges across the world. These colleges range from 2 year Junior Colleges to 4 year Universities.

SIFE offers its members the opportunity to compete in competitions against other schools to showcase their projects. Competitions are held all around the nation. These competitions have many prestigious entrepreneurs present as many top companies think that SIFE is an invaluable organization. Wal-Mart is a large supporter of the SIFE organization as Faculty Advisors are named Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellows in honor of Wal-Marts’ founder Sam M. Walton.

By participating in outreach projects that are geared to teach others how the Free Enterprise System works, SIFE members grasp a broader understanding of the system. Projects help to reinforce what is being taught to students in business classes. With an opportunity to expand what has been learned, SIFE members possess the edge that is needed in today’s workforce to become a successful businessperson.

K-State SIFE

The students in Free Enterprise Chapter at Kansas State University is currently in its seventh year of existence on campus. We receive no academic credit for participation in SIFE. Students implement all of the projects on a voluntary basis. For this reason our SIFE members are known as some of K-State's most promising leaders. We take a lot of pride in our mission and strive to provide our campus and local communities with the knowledge and skills they need to survive in a free enterprise system.

Each spring, our team competes at Regional competition for the opportunity to advance to the national competition in Kansas City. Our team creates a 24 minute presentation to present to a panel of judges competing against other SIFE teams. For the second year in a row, our team has won our regional competition and advanced to national competition. Besides the regional titles, our SIFE team has faired numerous other accomplishments which are listed below
